What a brilliant start to the new school year we've had in Year 5 and 6!
We’ve jumped straight into some exciting writing inspired by The Viewer by Gary Crew. The story has sparked lots of imagination and deep thinking — and a huge thank you to Mrs Vernon for bringing in a real View Master from the 1950s! It was amazing to see how the device works and helped us understand the story even more.
In our wider curriculum, things have been very hands-on. Science lessons have been full of practical experiments, including making mixtures (some of which were very smelly!) and learning how to separate materials whilst panning for gold. There’s been lots of curiosity and teamwork — and a few wrinkled noses!
In History, we’ve been diving into the dramatic life of Henry VIII and exploring the reasons behind his many marriages. The class has had some great discussions and asked some brilliant questions — we’re definitely becoming historians!
We’ve also taken part in a bit of real-life democracy by voting for our new School Councillors. Congratulations to Ted and Daniella — we know you’ll do a fantastic job representing The Kingfishers!
Looking ahead, we’re really excited about our upcoming trips to the Brailsford Ploughing Match and the Rosliston Science Festival. We can’t wait to get out and explore, learn new things, and have fun together.
Here’s to a fantastic term ahead!
