English - Back to the stone age with Stig of the Dump.

We have started our academic year by reading Stig of the Dump.  During our lessons, we have written some excellent diary entries from the point of view of Barney, one of the main characters.  After reading part of chapter 2, we drew what we thought the fireplace that Barney and Stig made would look like.  We then added some creative noun phrases to label parts of the fireplace.

Rocking and Rolling in Maths
Times Timetables Rock Star launch day brought a lot of fun to our class.  Mrs Perrett has set up some tournaments between Year 3 and Year 4 and some of us are getting very competitive already!  We have been exploring place value within numbers to 100, 1,000 and 10,000 and using our knowledge to order and compare numbers.

Wider curriculum - Understanding our bodies - inside and out
Our Science lessons have been full of practical activities.  We have made moving skeletons, a model of the hand and measured bones to find out which was the smallest bone in the human body.  History lessons have linked with our English work as we learn about the Stone Age.  We were all amazed to find out that there is more history before the birth of Jesus than after!

Next week, we are excited to visit the ploughing match on Wednesday!
