Hot weather update

18 July 2022 (by Andrew Rudge (arudge))

Thanks to staff and children who have managed well in the high temperatures today. Children have been excellently behaved following guidance to stay in the shade, drink plenty of water and limit physical activity.

Temperatures in classrooms were approximately 30 degrees Celcius in the early afternoon: staff monitored the children and hardly anyone reported feeling ill due to the heat. In the one case where a child reported feeling dizzy, their parents were contacted.

With temperatures forecast to remain very hot tomorrow, please remember that if you wish to keep children at home, absences will be authorised. It may also be worth considering collecting children at lunchtime before school reaches peak temperatures. Parents should notify school of their intention before 9:00am.

If staff deem temperatures to become dangerously hot, the decision to close school will be taken - this will be communicated via ParentPay and the Jotter App. Please keep an eye out for any messages.

Many thanks.
