As the Autumn term draws to a close, we have had a lovely week focused around the true message of Christmas: the birth of Jesus Christ. Our Nativity in church was a great success with lots of positive feedback. My thanks to Key Stage 1 staff who supported the children in putting on a well-polished performance. In church, we also formally thanked Mrs O’Bray for the service she has given to Church Broughton over the last 7 years. We wish her every success in her new job.
Today has been party day with KS1 and KS2 playing lots of games and doing lots of dancing. The children had a good time and behaved in a kind way towards each other. At the end of the day, we gathered for a short worship where Samuel read a prayer written by Robert Louis Stevenson. In the final lines, it says, ‘May the Christmas morning make us, Happy to be your children, And Christmas evening bring us, To our beds with grateful thoughts’. I think this is a lovely sentiment which will stay with me throughout the Christmas holiday.
I hope everyone in the school community has a restful, safe and fun Christmas and am looking forward to another a successful school year in 2020.
