Headteacher’s Blog 07.10.19
It was a real shame last week that the Ploughing Match had to be cancelled due to bad weather. This would have been a great chance to learn more about our local community. However, there still were some real highlights this week, with children having the opportunity to engage with visitors to the school.
On Wednesday, two music teachers from Yamaha Music School came in and entertained everyone in a great worship. Lots of children in all year groups were involved, having the opportunity to try new musical instruments.
On Friday afternoon, we had our annual Grandparents Afternoon. We welcomed 36 grandparents or other relatives to spend time with children in the hall and in their classrooms. I would like to give special thanks to Mrs Steeples and Mrs Mayley for helping to organise this and also to our Year 6 Super Students, who welcomed guests and helped to serve and clear up.
I had the opportunity to visit another church school last week. At the end of the day, in each class, the children recite a school prayer. I thought this was a lovely idea and one I would like to replicate here at Church Broughton. I then thought it would a good chance for our children to consider the Christian values we promote in all aspects of our school life and write a prayer which thanks God for the opportunities we have here. If your child would like to write a school prayer which promotes values such as compassion, perseverance, forgiveness, generosity, friendship, courage, thankfulness, trust and service, I would be very grateful. All children who give me a prayer, will receive 5 Pride Points for their efforts and I will consider which prayer would be best suited as a whole school prayer. Please ask your child to give these to me by Friday 18th October.
