Head teacher’s blog 10.01.2020
I would like to wish you all a very happy new year and welcome back to school. In addition, I thank you for your tolerance and understanding whilst we have our heating repaired. The children have coped admirably!
This week, we welcomed Mrs Wilson to our school: she has made a great start with lots of positive feedback from the children in Class 2. They have begun writing adventure stories and reading Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura.
What a week it has been in the Pigs and Piglets Class. The children and Mrs Turpin have welcomed Mrs Millington back into the class and have helped her to find things. The Piglets have begun to explore winter and have enjoyed their book – One Snowy Night by Nick Butterworth. The Pigs have worked extremely hard in Maths and English: they have used a story map to learn a new version of Jack and the Beanstalk. Their retelling skills are excellent!
In Class 3, we have been very dramatic whilst learning some of Shakespeare’s most powerful speeches. ‘Once more unto the breach, dear friends’! Again, the children’s inference skills and ability to understand subtle themes has really impressed.
