Our School.

Church Broughton School is a Church of England controlled school, funded by Derbyshire County Council. We have close links with the village church of St Michael and All Angels and with its vicar, Reverend Michael Bishop.
Our School
Our children join us when they are nearly five and stay with us until transfer to secondary school, usually John Port in Etwall, at the age of eleven. We have approximately 100 children on roll.

The school was built in 1974 and is of a semi open-plan design. There are three main teaching areas, a library, a community room, an office and a hall - which also serves as a gymnasium and dining room. School meals are cooked on the premises.
In recent years there has been an extension, refurbishment and remodelling to improve the learning environment and facilities. The school has a beautiful outlook across open fields, is set in large grounds and is adjacent to a sports field.

The school was last inspected in October 2006. The inspection confirmed our evaluation that this very good school, “provides a good quality of education and owes its success to good leadership, a strong Christian ethos, skilled and hard working staff and governors and pupils who enjoy school and want to learn.” One of our strengths is supporting pupils’ personal development. Ofsted commented that our children “enjoy the full range of experiences and appreciate the support they get, the recognition of their achievements the wealth of activities provided outside lessons.” The school gained a Healthy Schools Award in 2006 and has three times been awarded The Basic Skills Quality Mark.
